How do I know I need a new roof?

If you’ve got missing or cracked slates or tiles; torn or loose felt; attic leakage; staining on interior walls or ceilings, it’s probably time to consider a new roof.

I have a minor leak, can you help?

Of course we can! Although minor leaks may not seem like a big issue, it is important to get them taken care of. Significant water damage can be caused when small leaks are left to develop, which may result in larger issues with your roof down the line. Don’t wait for the next heavy downpour of rain! If you know you have some small leaks in your roof, get them repaired as soon as possible.

What are my options if I decide to re-roof?

You have a couple of options. You can choose a complete replacement of the roof system – this can involve removing the old roof. Alternatively we can re-cover the existing roof, needing only a new roof membrane and new surfacing. If you’ve already had one re-cover over your original roof, we’ll need to see if your surface can support a second recover.

How does a roof restoration add value to my home?

Your roof is a major structure of your home and one of the main elements that determines how your house looks externally. An old, tired-looking roof will make your entire house look old; while a fully restored roof will instantly make your whole home look more appealing to the eye. A new roof can add thousands of euro to the market price of your home.

Can't I just do the work myself?

Most roof work should not be do-it-yourself. Professional roofing contractors are trained to safely and efficiently repair or replace a roof. Those with less experience can harm a roof with improper roofing, techniques and severely injure themselves by falling off (or even through) a roof in need of repair. Homeowner maintenance should be confined to roof inspections in both the spring and winter to check for cracked/loose slates, tiles or torn membrane and cleaning gutters filled with leaves. If you must see the roof yourself, use a firmly braced or tied-off ladder equipped with rubber safety feet. Wear rubber-soled shoes and stay on the ladder (and off the roof) if possible.

How long can i expect my roof to last?

The lifespan of your roof will depend on the type of roof you have, the effects of your local environment and the level of maintenance the roof has received. With proper care and attention, your roof will have no problem lasting for many years in Ireland. Roofing element manufacturers offer a variety of warranties on their products; take a close look at your warranty to see what responsibilities and financial obligations they will assume if their product fails to reach their expected lifetime.
